Analysis of Lake Shoreline Evolution Characteristics Based on Object Increments

Evolutionary changes in shallow lake shorelines can significantly impact wetland biodiversity transformation. This paper aims to further elucidate the evolution process by investigating temporal and spatial characteristics rules governing shoreline evolution. Departing from traditional analyses of area length changes, this presents a comprehensive approach quantifying typical patterns using concept object increments. These evolutionary are classified into four types: “expansion”, “shrinkage”, “appearance”, “disappearance”. Using Shengjin Lake as case study, Landsat images 2001 2020 were used extract shoreline. The series different patterns, laws at patch scale, direction analyzed. key findings follows. (1) Lake’s was primarily characterized “expansion” or “shrinkage” with clear negative correlation between them. “appearance” “disappearance” rare. (2) mainly occurred smaller patches large number, while mostly larger small there no occurrences certain years. (3) pattern more dominant northeast east-by-northeast regions, varied across southwest west-by-southwest regions. In conclusion, analysis evolution’s characteristics, based on spatiotemporal increments, quantitatively offers novel perspective for future research wetlands.
